Last Wednesday a single round of ammunition accidentally struck the driver's side of the Harpursville Central School bus as it traveled south on Coleville Road in the Town of Colesville.  The round of ammunition did not penetrate the bus, and did not injure any of the students on the bus. State Police in Sidney say the incident was the result of an errant round fired by one of two subjects who had been lawfully target shooting on their private land. A search of the suspects’ residence was conducted and 22 year old Lucas Alapeck was found to possess a large capacity ammunition feeding device capable of holding thirty rounds of .223 caliber ammunition. The large capacity ammunition feeding device was seized and Alapeck was arrested for 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a Class D felony. Alapeck was arraigned in Colesville Town Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear at a later date.
