Town of Chenango Man Charged with Rape of 16-Year-Old

A Town of Chenango man has been arrested by the Broome County Sheriff's Office and charged with raping a 16-year-old girl.

David R. Heater, 35, allegedly provided the victim with cigarettes and drugs, and repeatedly had sexual intercourse with an individual who was unable to give consent. The information came from a hotline complaint. The crimes are said to have taken place in the Town of Chenango over the course of two and a half months.

Officials also report that two 15 year-old children were present while the sexual acts were being committed.

Heater was arraigned, then sent to the Broome County Correctional Facility without bail. Orders of protection were issue on behalf of the three teens.

Heater is charged with: one count of rape, 3rd degree, a felony; one count of criminal sexual act, 3rd degree, a felony; and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
