"Runaround Sue" hit #1 for Dion in 1959 shortly after he split with his group The Belmonts. The group got its name because two members of the original group lived on Belmont Avenue in The Bronx.

Dion DiMucci, lead singer, was the driving force behind the formation of the group.  Among their hits were "Teenager in Love," "The Wanderer" and "I Wonder Why." Dion was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a soloist) in 1988.

After several years out of the limelight, Dion came back with a #1 song in 1968 titled "Abraham, martin and John."  It was one of the biggest songs of the year.
