New York would automatically add to the voting rolls any citizen who fills out a state form, under a revised bill that passed the state Senate on Thursday.
I have been registered to vote since the moment I turned 18. My first vote was cast in 2004 for John Kerry. I remember having to trot down to the Board of Elections, pick up my voter registration form, fill it out, find a stamp, mail it in and wait for my voter card.

Nearly 3,500 New Yorkers have used the new Department of Motor Vehicles online voter registration website since the Aug. 16 initiative, which streamlines DMV services by allowing New Yorkers to apply to register to vote, or update their address or party enrollment.
