You could argue that if you were to give a theme to the 2013 season for the New York Yankees, it would probably be "the good, the bad and the ugly." This afternoon's game at Comerica Park in Detroit was a perfect example of that theme, as the Yankees dropped the opener of a three-game set to the Tigers, by a score of 8-3.

For many pitchers, being tasked with preventing an opening series sweep would be a high pressure situation. For Andy Pettitte it was just another day at the park.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the New York Yankees. In their ugly 7-4 loss to the Red Sox, Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda was forced to leave in the second with an injured hand.
