DELHI, NY (01/25/2014)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi has launched a new associate degree program, Mechatronics Design, that prepares students for the rapidly growing fields of advanced manufacturing and automation.

Delhi's Mechatronics Design program, the first of its type in New York State, combines major technological disciplines. According to the National STEM Consortium, mechatronics is a new and emerging career that trains technologists to work on robotic and "intelligent" equipment ranging from automated teller machines to multi-million dollar manufacturing cells.

Mechatronics Design graduates will have a multi-disciplinary skill set that will prepare them to fill emerging jobs in industrial manufacturing, food processing, aerospace, defense, pharmaceutical production, electronics manufacturing, and the entertainment/amusement industry. According to CareerBuilder.com, technologists in this field earn an average annual salary of $50,000.
