Frank Vincent, a veteran actor with a decorated resume, has passed away, TMZ reports. He was 78.

The actor reportedly suffered a heart attack last week and he died while undergoing open heart surgery.

Vincent had nearly 90 credits to his name in a career that dates back to 1976, but it's his role as Tony's archenemy Phil Leotardo on HBO's iconic The Sopranos that will most likely be his legacy.

He often starred as a tough guy and appeared in many other memorable projects aside from The Sopranos, including Raging Bull, Goodfellas, CasinoNYPD Blue and Law & Order.
