School bus drivers statewide will soon have to submit to random drug and alcohol screening under a new law. Previously only 10 percent of drivers were subjected to screening and those driving buses carrying 16 passengers or fewer were exempt. Drivers are now prohibited from drinking alcohol for eight hours prior to their routes which is an increase from the original six hour rule. The law takes effect near the end of December.
