House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster has appointed U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna to the Aviation Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over all aspects of civil aviation, safety, infrastructure, labor, commerce and international issues.

The aviation subcommittee oversees all programs except for research activities of the Federal Aviation Administration, including unmanned aircraft systems.

The 22nd congressional district is home to more than 20 airports. Central New York was recently selected as one of six unmanned aircraft test sites nationwide. Hanna, who is a pilot, said he looks forward to working on aviation issues in Congress.
