School districts across the state will present their budgets, propositions, and school board candidates to the public today.

New York state plans to hand out school tax reimbursements to taxpayers in districts that stay within their tax cap. Taxpayers in 23 districts that plan to go above the limit won't receive a check. The state had offered to pay the difference between the current school bill and the new one in districts that stay below the tax cap of about 2%.

There are 669 school districts in the state.
