In the Town of Franklin, New Jersey residents 37 year old Yurian Perez and 31 year old Yuniel Brito were arrested Friday on charges of one count of Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree, a class C Felony, Unlawful Cultivation of Marijuana, an unclassified Misdemeanor and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor. Both suspects were arraigned and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000.00 cash bail.

The charges are the result of a month long investigation into an alleged cannabis grow operation located inside a residence at 9179 County Highway 21 in the Town of Franklin. The investigation culminated in the execution of a Search Warrant at that residence, which resulted in the discovery of a sophisticated indoor grow facility which utilized elaborate lighting, ventilation and irrigation techniques to grow numerous cannabis plants. A total of 328 cannabis plants were seized, as well as numerous grow lights and various other equipment related to the cultivation of cannabis, as well as a crossbow and a metal knuckle knife. A vehicle related to the two suspects, who were present in the residence at the time the Search Warrant was executed, was also seized. Evidence was also uncovered that the electricity use to run the grow operation was being stolen from NYSEG.

The investigation continues, and more charges against additional suspects are likely.
