A convicted sex offender in Delaware County was arrested after he allegedly took off a GPS monitoring device.

Authorities say 32-year-old John Cumo Jr. of Walton has been accused of violating parole.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Cumo was found by police hiding in the garage of a seasonal residence in Hamden.

Investigators say a parole warrant for Cumo was issued Tuesday afternoon. Cumo is said to have removed the monitor from his body early Tuesday morning.

Police say Cumo is a registered Level Three sex offender. They say he was released in February after serving a prison sentence for a Delaware County burglary conviction.

In addition to the garage where Cumo was discovered, deputies found another seasonal home had been forcefully entered.

Deputies say more charges are expected in connection with damage to the garage and residence.
