West Oneonta fire officials say there was a fire overnight in a bunkhouse at the Cooperstown All Star Village on State Highway 23 in Oneonta.

West Oneonta Fire Chief Walt Schmitt says the fire originated in an exterior wall of the bunkhouse and caused some flame and smoke damage.

An employee called in the fire at roughly 1:30 a.m., and Schmitt says early detection was key in preventing further damage.

It took firefighters from West Oneonta, Oneonta, Otego, Laurens, West Laurens about 10 minutes to get the fire under control.

Mt. Vision provided a tanker and were also on standby.

The All Star Village is not yet open for the season. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues
