New York has awarded a nearly $4 million grant to Otsego Electric Cooperative to build out a fiber optic internet network. According to a news release the project will provide high speed internet access and telephone service to around 1,750 co-op members.

OEC says the work on this phase of the project should be completed later this year and they will apply for another grant when the state announces the next round of applications are being accepted.
