New York State Wildlife officials have reported that a young bald eagle has been shot in Otsego County.

The incident occurred in the town of New Lisbon (Otsego County) prior to April 25.  The New York Wildlife Rescue Center found the bird and surgery saved the birds life.  The bird's wing had been broken.  Cornell University veterinarians determined that the bird was injured by a gun shot.

A $1,000 reward has been posted for any information on who did this.  The reward amount will continue to grow, according to the New York Wildlife Rescue Center.  Payment will be made upon the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYS DEC Hotline at 1-800TIPSDEC or 1-800-847-7332.
