New York State Police in Oneonta are investigating a fatal crash in Otsego County.

Authorities say they were called to a report of a serious one-vehicle crash on County Highway 7 in Otsego in the Town of Otego on Monday, September 19.

Troopers arriving on the scene car had left the road and crashed into a tree.

Troopers say 45-year-old Jennifer Thayer of Otsego was alone in the Hyundai Elantra that was traveling north on the County road when she drove off the pavement.

Thayer was transported to O.A. Fox Hospital in Oneonta where she was pronounced dead.

New York State Police were assisted at the scene by Otego Emergency Medical Services, Otsego County EMS and the Otsego County Coroner.

Authorities have not released any information regarding why Thayer may have driven off the road.
