Bruce A. Jester, 71, of Oneonta passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) with his family by his side.

He was born August 18, 1941 in Oneonta the son of the late Edgar Frederic and Clive (Bryant) Jester.

Bruce graduated from Oneonta High School the Class of 1959.

On June 25, 1968, Bruce married Nancy Canfield at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta. Together they shared 44 years of marriage.

Bruce was an Electrician for the D&H Railroad for 41 years and retired in 2001.

He enjoyed traveling, going to and watching sporting events, tending to his garden and canning all the vegetables that he grew and spending time at his home that he built. But most of all Bruce loved spending time with his family and friends. He always enjoyed the many family and friend gatherings and dinners.

Bruce played baseball for the Milford Macs and in 1959 tried out for the L.A. Dodgers. Bruce was an avid bowler and bowled on several area leagues including the railroad and the Elks Club league. He was also an Oneonta Little League Coach for the Elks team for 15 years.

Bruce was a member of the Oneonta B.P.O.E #1312, the Local Union #1231 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Jester, Oneonta; two children, Michael Joseph Jester, Oneonta and Karen and Cory Telarico of Oneonta; two sisters, Nancy and Bill Rasmussen of Oneonta and Betsy Squaires of Lewiston, NY; three brothers, Donald and Dee Jester of Endicott, Richard and Joan Jester of Webster and Rodney and Evelyn Jester of Swan Lake; two sisters-in-law, Edith Jester of Schenevus and Charlotte Jester of Oneonta; one brother-in-law, George Wetmore of Davenport Center; two special children, Erin and Nick Stalder who have always held a very special place in his heart; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Sally Jester, Eunice Bush and Beverly Wetmore and two brothers, Warren and Wayne Jester.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Bruce A. Jester will immediately follow at 1:00PM. Memorial donations in Bruce's name may be made to Cure PSP, 30 E. Padonia Road #201, Timonium, MD 21093.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the all the Dr.'s, Nurses and Staff of the A.O. Fox Nursing Home for their wonderful care that they gave to Bruce.
