May the best mascot win! It's between the A.O. Fox (Fox Hospital) and the Oneonta Job Corps Bulldog to see which organization can get the most blood donors in the "2nd Annual Blood Donor Dash" on November 8 and 9.

Last year, the A.O. Fox took home the trophy, but let's face it, no matter who wins, many lives will be saved as people donate blood. The need for blood is very urgent right now according to a press release from A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.  Because of the devastating series of hurricanes this fall, the demand for blood has been high. It is estimated that more than 36,000 units of blood are being used each day in the U.S. Each donation helps meet patient needs across the country.

Oneonta Job Corps Academy will host the first blood drive on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in their gymnasium and then A.O. Fox Hospital will hold theirs on Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the FoxCare Center (in Classroom 1). Both events will feature refreshments and prize drawings.

If you need information on how to qualify to donate blood or you would like to register to donate at either location, visit www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
