Start collecting your fishing bait and equipment because this Saturday, August 29th, the City of Oneonta is holding their 58th Annual Fishing Derby (catch and release) for kids 5 through 15 years of age.  This is a free event with awards handed out to whomever catches the biggest fish in three age categories.

Registration is from 3pm to 3:45pm at Hodges Pond in Neahwa Park, Oneonta.  You can register your child in advance by stopping in to Oneonta city hall at 2258 Main St., to the City Clerk's Office.

Fishing begins at 4pm at the pond on Saturday and will last for one hour with an awards ceremony to follow.  The Oneonta Lions Club will provide refreshments to participants and their families and sunglasses to the first 100 contestants as the Lions Club celebrates their 100th anniversary.
