State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced New York ranks fourth in credit card debt amongst the 50 states. A report released Tuesday put the Empire State’s credit card debt in 2017 at $58.2 billion. The report says state credit card debt declined significantly in the state from 2008 through 2013 but grew between 2014 through 2017 by more than 14 percent. New York’s debt rating is 20 percent higher than the national average and its 90-day delinquency rate is also higher than the national average.
