Today the New York State Senate begins work on the 2018-2019 budget and one important part according to senate leaders is an investment of $265 million for drug prevention and treatment. Lawmakers say they plan to address fentanyl and other synthetic drug use along with protecting children and adults from opioid exposure, as well as strengthening enforcement. The state’s new fiscal year starts April 1.
