Starting last year in New York State, you could buy ice cream made with beer and hard cider thanks to a bill sponsored by State Senator James Seward. Now you can buy ice cream made with other spirits under a measure signed into law yesterday by lawmakers according to Governor Andrew Cuomo's office. Liquor-infused ice cream is limited to 5 percent alcohol by volume. Gilligan’s Ice Cream in Sherburne was the first to make ice cream with beer and hard cider.
