Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the State Division of Human Rights last year secured more than $5 million in compensation for victims of discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation.

The statement says 77 cases were resolved in Central NY resulting in a total of nearly $590,000 in compensation.

DHR also assessed $273,000 in penalties against employers.
