New York State will release the March Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits about a week earlier than scheduled. According to Governor Cuomo's Office, the early benefit release is being done to help those affected by last month’s government shutdown. February’s benefits were released three weeks early due to the shutdown. Nearly 20,000 of the state's residents were furloughed during the 35-day federal shutdown.
