State officials say New York State got through the 2015 hunting season without a shooting fatality, the first time that has happened since the 1950s. The Department of Environmental Conservation announced Wednesday that there were 23 hunting incidents during the season, one fewer than the 2014 season and the third-lowest number on record. DEC officials credit the agency's hunter safety education safety programs with helping reduce the number of accidental shootings.
