The newly-formed Delaware County Sheriff K-9 Unit made its first arrest on Sept. 8, just one day after the K-9 had graduated.

Delaware County Deputies were assisted Village of Walton Police with a traffic stop on Townsend Street in Walton. There, police spotted marijuana on the center console and brought in the K-9 Unit to canvass the vehicle.

The K-9 Unit found several glassine envelopes containing heroin, according to the police report.

As a result, Anthony L. Palladino, 24, of Walton, Troy T. Terney, 22, of Walton, and Melissa A. Dacey, 21, of Delhi were arrested for unlawful possession of marihuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

All subjects were arrested by Walton Police and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Walton Court at a later date.
