Those who are fans of the baked potato at the New York State Fair will find the line to obtain the savory spud shorter this year.

Fair organizers say the procedure for the tuber treat will involve a separate line for the potato itself, then the drink, then the condiments.

Lines sometimes stretch the entire length of the horticulture building where Crowley Foods of Binghamton sponsors the baked potato attraction.

One thing will not change according to Agriculture Commissioner Darrel Aubertine: The famous baked potato will still only cost $1.

The New York State Fair runs Aug. 22-Sept. 2 in Syrause.
