New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Barbara Fiala announced that in an effort to better serve their customers, the DMV has started a pilot program to test the effectiveness of offering Saturday hours.

The program will be tested at its offices in Syracuse, Medford and Herald Square, Masapequa and Yonkers. The pilot is part of the DMV “Customer Service Initiative” which was created in response to Governor Cuomo’s call for all State agencies to begin “reimagining government” so that they are more responsive to the state’s citizens.

The DMV offices in Syracuse (Western Lights Plaza), Medford and Herald Square will be open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon through November 23. DMV offices in Massapequa, Yonkers and Herald Square will be open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through the end of March 2014.

Typically DMV offices are not open on Saturday and close on weekdays at 4:00 p.m. For more information on DMV office locations or transactions that can be completed online, go to the DMV website at www.dmv.ny.gov.
