There are certain Hallmark-movie triggers which mean fall is here in Upstate New York.  The cider mills are cranking it up, hay rides are the delight for all ages, kids like to get lost in a corn maze, cider donuts become the snack of choice, and harvest festivals are seemingly everywhere, from the Hudson Valley to Western New York.

And then there are the apple pies!  Ahhh....

New York is famous for its apple orchards and apple crop each year.  Some of the best apples in the country can be found in our region.  So it makes sense that the finest apple pies anywhere would be found in the diners, cafes, roadside farmer's stands, and in the kitchens of Upstate New York.

Here are a dozen pies that we find simply terrific.  They are in pie shops, cafes, and stores from one end of the state to the other.  Hand pies, apple crumb, Dutch Apple, old-fashioned apple, apple pie with coffee, apple pie with ice cream, etc.  You get the picture.  All hail.....the apple pies are ready for their close up!

Each of the dozen pies referenced in this gallery comes with a direct link to their restaurant or farm stand or mill.  We encourage you to seek them out and enjoy!

And remember, as we always say, there are too many places selling fresh apple pies this season to mention here (hundreds?), so if we missed your favorite apple pie we ask that you give it a shout out over on our Facebook page.  We really do want to hear from you!
