New Bill to Combat State Meth Labs

State senator Tom Libous says that methamphetamine labs are on the rise in New York and pose serious public safety concerns.

Meth makers currently go from drug store to drug store purchasing over-the-counter medicines containing an essential ingredient.

Libous has co-sponsored a bill which will require a retailer to electronically submit the required information to a main database, which would track those who go from place to place buying the legal limit at each site in real time.

The legislation is expected to make it more difficult for meth makers to get the essential ingredient needed for production of the drug and, in turn, reduce the number of meth labs in the state
