Marcia Wallace, she of the poofy red hair and the extra-teeth smile, has passed away at the age of 70.

Wallace was beloved as Bob Newhart's secretary, Carol, on The Bob Newhart Show.  She also voiced the character of Mrs. Krabappel, the schoolteacher on The SImpsons, for nearly a quarter of a century.  She won a Voice Over Emmy for her work on The Simpsons.

Wallace was diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1980s.

Like so many other future stars, Wallace got her start in commercials.  Here is one of her earliest commercials for SCOPE mouth wash!
