The Maine-Endwell (N.Y.) Little League World Series team will be honored at the home of baseball, just a short 80-mile drive from where it all began for a group of 11 players who refused to lose.

The Maine-Endwell team, champions of Little League’s Mid-Atlantic region, defeated a team from Seoul, South Korea, 2-1 in the LLWS championship game Aug. 28 in South Williamsport, Pa. The win marked the last of 24 straight games without a loss for the team from adjoining Binghamton-area towns with a combined population of fewer than 20,000. The worldwide tournament started this summer with about 7,500 teams vying for the title.

Team members and coaches will visit the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 23, and be honored in a special 1 p.m. ceremony in the Museum’s Plaque Gallery hosted by Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson.

Maine-Endwell became the first team from New York State to win the Little League World Series title since a team from Staten Island in 1964.
