Did you know that October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month"?  Cancer is definitely one of those things that no one wants to think about but with breast cancer rates so high, it's not something to be ignored!  Check out this statistic from O'Connor Hospital: "about 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Early detection is crucial for diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer."

I have personally been touched by breast cancer.  I have had two friends survive breast cancer which has prompted me to be very diligent about getting my annual mammogram.  As mentioned above, early detection can make all the difference in beating this terrible disease!  So I urge you, if it's been over a year since you've had a mammogram, don't wait, make an appointment now!  If you don't have health insurance or inadequate insurance to cover the cost of that, free screenings are available.   CLICK HERE for resources on free screenings.
