Attorney general Eric Schneiderman announced this week that 59 housing counseling groups and 35 legal service organizations will be awarded funds under the attorney general's Home Ownership Protection Program [HOPP].

The program will fund services for homeowners over a three year period for a total of $60 million. The first year will fund 35 legal services organizations and 59 housing counseling agencies with $16.1 million to provide free foreclosure prevention services.

An additional $3.9 million will go for training, technical assistance and other support services to assist homeowners in foreclosure.
