Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced an additional $20 million in funding has been allocated for the state’s Homeowner Protection Program which connects homeowners to free, qualified mortgage-assistance relief services. According to the AG the state has invested a total of $130 million in the program since 2012 with more than 80,000 families receiving assistance to avoid foreclosure. The funding for HOPP comes from bank settlements that Schneiderman secured through the federal-state mortgage-backed securities working group.
