Happy 85th Birthday to “America’s Sweetheart” Shirley Temple! (VIDEO)

Shirley Temple is 85.

Now Shirley Temple Black, this once little curly haired moppet was the darling of Hollywood, was the biggest star in America and was a millionaire all before she was 8 years old!

She began her film career at the age of 3 and at age 6 she was an international hit in the movie Bright Eyes.  She was the biggest box-office star in America for four years in a row, right smack dab in the middle of the Great Depression, 1935-1938.  She could sing, dance, act and smile that dimpled smile like no other child star of the era.  She retired from show-business at the ripe old age of twenty two  in 1950.

Her post-entertainment career found her on the national and international stage.  She even did a stint as U.S. Ambassador to Ghana (1968) as well as to Czechoslovakia (1980).
