A former Tennessee Congressional candidate has been convicted by a federal jury of all counts in an alleged plot to attack a small Muslim community in Delaware County.

65-year-old Robert Doggart was found guilty Thursday following a trial in Chattanooga.

The verdict came after the jurors indicated they were deadlocked in their deliberations on four counts in connection with Doggart's alleged plans to burn down a mosque and other buildings at Islamberg.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the jury spent three more hours weighing the testimony before returning the guilty verdict.

Doggart was arrested nearly two years ago after federal investigators concluded he had been recruiting people to target Islamberg, which is located a few miles north of the village of Hancock.

Judge Curtis Collier scheduled a sentencing hearing for May 31. He ordered Doggart remain in custody despite a defense request that he be kept under house arrest.
