Griffin Brooks, who founded one of New York State's legendary barbecue restaurants, has died.

Brooks and his wife, Frances, founded the Oneonta chicken barbecue mainstay more than a half century ago.  Many can remember when the Brooks' sold their chicken dinners at the old Del-Sego Drive In movie theater in the 1950s.  Today, their restaurant is now operated by a third generation Brooks, Ryan and his wife, Beth.  John and Joan Brooks ran the restaurant from 1975 to 2005.

Locals, generations of college students, movie stars and politicians have all enjoyed this true Oneonta landmark restaurant.
