Free fishing will be coming to New York state this weekend. Gov. Andrew Cuomo says state residents and visitors can fish for free without a fishing license on the weekend of June 27-28 in the state's lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. Also, saltwater anglers will be able to fish in marine waters for migratory marine fish species without enrolling in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry. The free fishing is aimed at boosting New York state tourism. State officials say New York has 7,500 lakes and ponds and 50,000 miles of rivers and streams.
