April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Chenango County Child Advocacy Center has planned a number of events throughout the month to raise awareness of child abuse.

Mike Madough, supervisor of the center says the first is planned for this Friday. The first ever Wear Blue Day is to show support for child abuse prevention:

Madough says that 1 of 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by the time they reach 18 years old. He shared further statistics on the frequency of injuries due to violence, the number of reports of child abuse, and fatalities:

In 2013Chenango County ranked fifth out of the 62 New York counties for reported child abuse incidents.
