The Cooperstown Lions Club is hosting its seventh annual Duck Derby Race this weekend at the Fly Creek Cider Mill to benefit local charities. Lions Club’s main initiatives are eyesight conservation and community betterment and the club will be accepting donations of used eyeglasses and hearing aids that are then recycled for distribution in less developed countries. Both Saturday and Sunday the Lions will be implementing KidSight-USA a national club initiative which targets children six months to six years with vision screenings and professional follow up. Funds raised from the Derby are reinvested back into the community. The Duck Derby Event runs from 10 am until 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday with no admission fee.
