Fatal Head-On Auto Accident in Tioga County

On May 27th at approximately 2:45 pm, the New York State Police at Owego investigated a 2 car motor vehicle accident which occurred on the eastbound lanes of State Route 17 in the Town of Nichols, Tioga County.

Investigation revealed Candor resident Shirley McGee, 79, was operating a 2001 Ford Escort westbound in the eastbound lanes of SR-17 near Exit 62 and struck an eastbound vehicle head on. The eastbound vehicle was a 2012 Ford pick up truck operated by Nickolas Little, 34, of Ceres.

Mcgee was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tioga County Assistant Coroner Robert Williams. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.

All three occupants of the pickup truck were transported to Robert Packer Hospital by ambulance for non life-threatening injuries.
