Fire heavily damaged a home in Sidney Thursday morning. The Briggs residence on State Highway 8 suffered extensive smoke, water, and fire damage and the interior of the home was destroyed.

Fire officials responded to the blaze a little after 8 am and had it under control within the first hour but remained on the scene until approximately 11 am. No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Involved in  battling this fire were firefighters from three counties: they came to assist from Masonville, Sidney, Sidney Center, Trout Creek, Walton, Bainbridge, Unadilla, Deposit, and Mount Upton.
