The Delaware County Cause and Origin Team along with other county coordinators are investigating the cause of an explosion at a Main Street apartment in Stamford.

Officials say the explosion was caused by a propane leak in the basement and lower apartment at 59 Main Street, but its unclear at this time what ignited the propane that caused two of the exterior walls to be blown off the foundation. A small fire broke out after the explosion which was quickly contained.

Four Stamford families called this apartment building home but only two people were present when the explosion occurred a little before noon. They were not injured as they lived upstairs.
