A former SUNY Oneonta student facing charges in the stabbing of his girlfriend takes a plea deal. Police say Julian VanCourt-Wels of Schnectady attacked the woman last December in their Maple St. apartment using a kitchen knife injuring her face, wrist and shoulders. According to prosecutors VanCourt-Wels pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony first-degree assault. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 5 at which time VanCourt-Wels will be given a 10 year jail term per the plea agreement.
