New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli issued a warning last week that the state’s spending will outpace revenues and that could spell trouble if there are any federal funding cuts or if an economic downtown occurs. DiNapoli’s report says the $170 billion state budget passed this year has $6.5 billion in new spending but only $541 million in additional revenue. The study found that no additional money has been added to the state’s contingency fund.
