In 1957 country singer Jimmy Dean was hired by CBS to host his own television variety show.

Jimmy Dean was a warm and friendly personality and audiences loved him.  This show was important to his career.  In fact his mega hit, "Big Bad John" was still a couple of years down the road.

Well, apparently the ratings for "The Jimmy Dean Show" were not to the liking of the network and CBS basically fired him, saying his show would not be renewed when his contract came up in two months.
