The Otsego County Department of Health says a calf in the town of Pittsfield tested positive for rabies on Friday.

No one was bitten by the calf, but several people had saliva contact and have begun rabies post-exposure treatment. The Department of Health reminds everyone that the best protection against rabies is to vaccinate your pets and livestock and avoid contact with wildlife.

A free rabies vaccination clinic is coming up on Wednesday May 7th at Neahwa Park in Oneonta for all dogs, cats, and ferrets.
