On March 13, 2014 troopers at State Police Binghamton arrested a Syracuse man for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana, and a New Jersey woman as a felony fugitive from justice.

The arrest occurred following a stop for speeding on Interstate 81 in Chenango. The driver, 34-year-old Kalief Spruiel, was said to possess marijuana and have a suspended driver license. The passenger, 18-year-old Shaquannah Smith, was alleged to have an arrest warrant for robbery from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department in New Jersey.

Both were arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court. Spruiel was remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $500 cash or $1,000 property bond. Smith was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail and is waiting to be picked up by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
