The Chenango County Sheriff's Office has arrested three Chenango County residents on heroin charges.

The arrests came after an investigation into the distribution of heroin throughout Chenango County. Ashley Wakefield, 28, of Norwich and Keith Johnson, 22, of New Berlin are accused of trying to sell heroin to an undercover police officer. Police say that Wakefield was found to have a hypodermic needle and prescription drugs, and that Johnson was in possession of ten bags of heroin.

A third person, Aaron Cleveland, 24, of New Berlin was also arrested and charged with criminal facilitation. He was later released on an appearance ticket.

Wakefield was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, conspiracy, criminal possession of a hypodermic needle, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was arraigned in Town of Norwich court and is currently in the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 dollars cash bail.

Johnson was also arraigned in Town of Norwich court and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.

The three will return to the court at a later date.
